Questions and Answers

  1. Who wins Mike’s movies of the year awards for 2000? faq id: 191
MP: In No Particular Order (except for the top 3): 1. Requiem For A Dream 2. Traffic 3. The Virgin Suicides 4. Almost Famous 5. Cast Away 6. Best In Show 7. Time Code 8. Dancer In The Dark 9. High Fidelity 10. Gladiator

  2. What does Mike think of the movie “Rushmore”? faq id: 192
MP: I really liked Rushmore! I have the Criterion Collection version of it on DVD which has some awesome extras in case you haven't seen that version. I really like the use of the song “A Quick One” by The Who as that is an favorite obscure song of mine.

  3. What are Mike’s thoughts on the movie Jacob’s Ladder? faq id: 193
MP: Absolutely AWESOME film...one of my favorites! Reminds me sooo much of Pink Floyd's The Wall which is another favorite of mine. The DVD has a great audio commentary with Adrian Lyne – but coolest of all, are 3 deleted scenes which are totally as intense as anything in the final cut.

  4. Has Mike seen Gummo and if so, what does he think of it? faq id: 194
MP: In fact, it was just recently released on DVD containing an interesting photo gallery with commentary by Director Harmony Korine. (Also just released was his equally as disturbing latest film “Julian Donkey-Boy”) I have a strange taste for very bizarre, DISTURBING films (Eraserhead, Pink Flamingos, etc)...and these 2 are surely up there with the most extreme I've seen!! Definitely proceed with caution! Not for all tastes! (but I dug it!!)

  5. What does Mike think of “The Gladiator” movie? faq id: 195
MP: I really liked it alot. In fact, ALOT more than I expected. I generally am not interested in Hollywood-Action-type movies, but I really enjoyed this one! The score was great, as was the acting and direction.

  6. What are Mike's top ten movies of 2001? faq id: 453
MP: (in no particular order): 1. Memento 2. Vanilla Sky 3. The Royal Tenenbaums 4. In The Bedroom 5. Mulholland Drive 6. A.I. 7. Sexy Beast 8. Moulin Rouge 9. Waking Life 10. The Man Who Wasn't There

  7. What are Mike's top ten movies of 2002? faq id: 454
MP: (in no particular order): 1. Minority Report 2. About Schmidt 3. Punch-Drunk Love 4. Far From Heaven 5. Road To Perdition 6. Red Dragon 7. Adaptation 8. Signs 9. The Hours 10. Fem Fatale

  8. What did Mike think of Star Wars Episode 2? faq id: 455
MP: I have mixed feelings. There were aspects I loved (the dark themes starting to get worked into the story) but parts I wasn't crazy about (some of the acting and I think it was OVER digital). I am going to say something which I'm sure will be controversial and nobody will agree with but..... I think Ep1 was a better movie OVERALL...

  9. What does Mike think of Freddy Got Fingered? faq id: 456
MP: I LOOOVE Tom Green, but I hate to say that Freddy was Soooo bad! Although it's the kind of movie, I think I'll like better through the years when I can just watch the silly stuff in spurts on video - Dumb and Dumber, Mallrats and even Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back have had that effect on me better on video.

  10. What does Mike think of Ocean's Eleven? faq id: 457
MP: I LOVE Soderbergh! He's one of my favorites out there out the moment. Even though I prefer his "personal" films (SL&V, The Limey, Traffic) to his Hollywood ones (Oceans & Erin)....I still thoroughly enjoyed it

  11. What are Mike's 10 favorite movies of all time? faq id: 458
